Bangkok - Beaches

Maybe it seems a bit odd to have a category about beaches on a site about Bangkok - there are no beaches in the city, that’s for sure, just a big river with its vegetated shorelines. You are right, but that doesn’t mean you have to go on a big journey to find paradise spots, there are some nice beaches not too far away from Bangkok, so it’s fully possible to combine a big city-holiday with some well-needed breaks by the sea

Koh Samet

Koh Samet is located a little more than 200 km from Bangkok, close enough to be a convenient location but far enough to be a fair break to the hustle and bustle of the big city. Koh Samet is a quiet and peaceful place and not too crowded. The price level is friendly too so it is a great option - maybe the best. You reach Koh Samet by bus and the journey lasts for approximately 3 hours.

Bang Saen

Bang Saen is located at the same distance from Bangkok as Koh Samet and the two places are similar in many ways. This is another exceptional run away-location

Hua Hin

If you go south from Bangkok you will reach Hua Hin after about 200 km, the bus ride takes about 3 hours. Hua Hin is not comparable to the previously mentioned destinations; this is a highly commercialized place with a great deal to offer - though not peace and quiet. Lots of people, higher prices but also endless possibilities. Kite-boarding is one of the highlights on Hua Hin.

Pattaya

Pattaya is even more famous and well-visited than Hua Hin. This is a world-famous party place, also well known for sex-tourism. Pattaya is the perfect location for people wanting to party the nights away and then chill by the sea during the daytime. If you are not looking for a lot of commotion you should probably chose a different location.

Pattaya is located no more than 150 km from Bangkok so the bus ride here is quick, not even 2 hours.
